Dubai Lime to Change the Model of Social Networking Sites! Dubai Lime has released its own web spaces for users offering more enhanced functionality than the majority of social networking sites with a specific focus on the City of Dubai.
Dubai Lime based in the UAE today launched its online community website Dubai Lime! Dubai Lime adds to the growing number of social networking sites available today online; however Dubai Lime has a couple of major and significant differences. The first being that it’s a geographical based community – the majority of the users work and live in the UAE Emirate of Dubai and as such the video content, audio content and users are based in Dubai. The company is launching sporting advanced features that would make even the leading social networking sites of today blush with mild embarrassment – and most importantly the company boasts that you will never see one single advertising banner advertisement or annoying flash screen advertisement on its website. With the Tag Line – Dubai Lime by the community for the community the company is funded by sponsorships of its creative commons video content, audio content and its experiential events in and around Dubai. It’s really a completely new model of operation and given the fact that the companies subscriptions are doubling every week it seems certain to make an impression on the 3 Million or so target subscribers for the company. Dubai Lime does not accept any sponsorship from alcohol, or what it considers as unethical brands limiting its catchments of monetarizing itself to support its operations but at the same time making it a virtual hero among its user base. It shares the Google Do No Evil motto and includes an ethics code that would be hard for most companies to swallow, including never charging its subscribers for its events and working with community businesses to provide them for free. Users have the ability to have their own site www.dubailime.com site and get invites to local events that Dubai Lime organizes – sales from Art exhibitions that the company runs go towards maintaining the website and running community based events. Users are able to add their own Video, Music and content on the site and contribute to the sites Blog as well as maintain their own content. How popular is it? – Very – User rates are growing exponentially and the company’s content is being syndicated in every major video and audio website world wide. Dubai Lime was founded when a single Dubai Denizen decided to run an open Mic night in Dubai based on his previous experience of listening to a Pod-casted Open Mic from Long Island Acoustic from I-tunes. He set up a website to promote the Open Mic night to promote Dubai Based original music that attracted 500 subscribers in its first couple of months of running a simple static HTML webpage. As more and more people came out to support the initiative and help by providing web development help, marketing assistance and content the group formed a company and is owned by its community founders. Now the company runs events for its subscribers that include Art shows, a monthly mixer night out that attracts hundreds of revelers and original music nights all over the city of Dubai. Attendees simply need to subscribe in order to gain access to the events. The companies themes are very much focused on linking the online virtual world of Dubai Citizens with real events happening on the ground. There is a strong sense of community building and social responsibility as well. Will Dubai Lime succeed in its mission to re-invent the Social Networking Model – well its already attracted seed funding from Ascala Group and will be looking for further funding to expand its operations into the Indian Sub Continent and Middle East later this year – its user rates are mind blowing and it has an experienced team of IT professionals behind it experienced in launching new companies. Time will tell – until then the Citizens of Dubai are simply enjoying the cultural opportunities provided by Dubai Lime. Comments
